Eco friendly artificial grass, built for performance and sustainability.
At SYNLawn, sustainability isn’t an add-on – it’s built into everything we do.
Manufactured in Australia by APT Asia Pacific, part of Sport Group, SYNLawn products are designed to deliver high-performance turf while reducing environmental impact across the product lifecycle. SYNLawn has manufactured in Melbourne for more than 25 years, and its turf is engineered for Australasian conditions with ISO-certified quality, testing and warranty support.
From responsible material selection and local manufacturing to advanced turf technology and end-of-life recycling, SYNLawn is helping create environmentally friendly artificial turf solutions for homes, schools, councils, businesses and community spaces.
Our Global Commitment to Environmentally Friendly Turf
Being part of Sport Group, SYNLawn is supported by the world’s largest business dedicated to sports and recreational surfaces, with ESG priorities focused on reducing environmental impact, increasing sustainable products and advancing lower-impact surface technologies.
Our approach focuses on:
R&D
Carbon emissions
Renewable Energy
Part of a global ESG strategy
Across its production facilities, Sport Group has been working to increase renewable energy use and track emissions as part of its broader sustainability roadmap. Sport Group has also published targets including a 55% renewable energy share by 2025 and a 40% reduction in CO₂ emission intensity by 2030.
For SYNLawn customers, this means every surface is connected to a broader commitment to performance, innovation and long-term environmental responsibility.
Green Technology for Better-Performing Spaces
SYNLawn’s Green Technology initiative combines advanced material science, manufacturing expertise, and eco-conscious design principles to deliver more sustainable turf solutions.
At its core is eco design thinking. This means sustainability is considered from the very beginning of the product lifecycle, from material selection and product development through to performance, longevity and end-of-life recovery. This includes:
- Increased use of bio-based and recycled materials
- Focus on durability and longevity to reduce replacement
- Design for end-of-life recyclability
- Continuous improvement in manufacturing efficiency and waste reduction
- Waste reduction through better product and process design
This helps SYNLawn deliver eco friendly synthetic grass that performs in real-world conditions, while supporting lower-impact outcomes over time.
COOLplus® Technology
SYNLawn’s COOLplus® technology is designed to improve comfort and usability in hot climates. It works by helping to reduce heat build-up in direct sunlight, making surfaces more comfortable for families, pets and play areas. At the same time, it creates a matte, low-glare finish for a more natural look, while supporting better usability and performance throughout the year.
Reducing water, chemicals and lawn maintenance
Eco friendly synthetic grass can help reduce:
● Regular irrigation
● Mowing and fuel use
● Fertilisers and lawn chemicals
● Green waste from mowing and edging
● Seasonal lawn replacement
● Mud, bare patches and overwatering
For homes, schools and commercial spaces, this can make outdoor areas easier to maintain while supporting more predictable resource use.
End-of-Life Turf Recycling
Sustainability does not stop at installation. It also includes what happens when a surface reaches the end of its usable life.
Through Sport Group’s founding partnership with RE4ORM™ Recycling, SYNLawn supports improved recycling and circular solutions for artificial turf across Australia. SYNLawn’s turf recycling page describes this as part of a full-lifecycle approach to artificial grass, with the goal of reducing landfill and advancing circular outcomes.
RE4ORM™ Recycling is developing Australia’s first dedicated turf recycling facility in Barnawartha, Victoria. The facility is designed to process end-of-life artificial turf systems by separating and repurposing materials for new uses.
This helps move the industry towards more responsible turf recovery and better end-of-life outcomes.
