Case Study: Wallan Secondary College

Project Overview

Wallan Secondary College has transformed an underutilised outdoor area into a vibrant multi-sport precinct designed to encourage student participation, recreation and physical activity throughout the school day.

Delivered by Easy Turf, the project incorporated 3,500m² of synthetic turf surfacing across a range of sporting and recreational zones. SYNLawn Comfort 30 and SYNLawn CoolPlay played a key role in creating comfortable, low-maintenance landscape and recreational areas that support informal play, social interaction and everyday student use.

The development also features dedicated basketball and netball courts surfaced with Supergrasse Court Turf PE, volleyball courts installed using exclusive League 40 turf, manufactured by APT Asia Pacific, and a variety of recreational spaces including Four Square and Bat Tennis areas. By integrating multiple sporting surfaces within a compact footprint, the design maximises usability while allowing several activities to occur simultaneously.

Extensive site preparation works, including excavation, surface removal, laser grading and the installation of new sporting infrastructure, were undertaken to ensure long-term performance and durability. The combination of SYNLawn and sports turf systems provides a safe, attractive and hard-wearing environment that supports year-round use while reducing ongoing maintenance requirements.
