The Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park

Synthetic Sports Group (SSG) was engaged to remove existing worn out grass and rectify the base where it had sunk and become a serious trip hazard. The area consisted of podium stairs and long triangular shaped seating areas all making up approximately 900m2.

Once we removed the existing synthetic grass it was discovered that the base material that was originally used was not suitable and consisted of approximately 30mm of coverage to the natural ground material present. Upon further inspection of the base a network of rodent tunnels was discovered which also was adding to the existing failed base.

SSG excavated out the existing material to an average depth of 60mm, as well as digging out the network of rodent tunnels.

Once excavation took place we mechanically stabilised the natural ground material with cement. Once the natural ground was stabilised we then imported a free draining stabilised base material to achieve correct height and fall. Approximately 80 tonnes of this customised base material was used to achieve this.

SSG supplied and installed Synlawn Natural 25 and kiln dried sand.
