Case Study: Belmore School

Project Overview

Belmore School’s inclusive playscape, designed and delivered by Barefoot, creates a welcoming outdoor environment that encourages exploration, creativity and play for children of all abilities.

The thoughtfully designed space features wide access ramps connecting a custom cypress pine playfort and pirate ship, alongside sensory elements that support engagement and interaction for all users, including non-ambulant children. SYNLawn Classic 35 synthetic turf was incorporated throughout the landscape to provide a natural-looking, durable and low-maintenance surface that integrates seamlessly with surrounding play features, greenery and gathering spaces.

Combined with water play, musical elements, sandpit zones and colourful soft-fall areas, the completed playscape delivers a stimulating and accessible environment that promotes movement, imagination and social connection while ensuring inclusivity remains central to the design.
