HEAT-REDUCING SYNTHETIC TURF
SYNLawn’s exclusive COOLplus® Technology was scientifically developed to combat artificial grass’s tendency to absorb heat. In the same way dark clothing absorbs more heat than light clothing, artificial grass can also hold heat making it uncomfortable when it very hot outside. Using infrared-reflective pigments built into each turf fibre, COOLplus® reflects more of the sun’s rays instead of absorbing them. This slows the rate of heat build-up and reduces overall surface temperatures by up to 20% compared with standard synthetic grass.
HOW IT WORKS
When sunlight strikes the surface, thermal energy is absorbed and converted into heat. COOLplus® modifies this process by reflecting infrared light away from the turf, lowering the amount of heat retained.
In addition to lowering temperature, COOLplus® also improves the appearance and feel of the turf. Fibres have a matte finish that reduces glare and a softer texture that is less abrasive underfoot, making SYNLawn the preferred artificial grass for play, recreation, and community spaces.
